Meet the Doctors

Dr. Joseph Schwann, DMD

Dr. Schwann graduated with his D.M.D. from the University of Saskatchewan in 1982. He returned to his hometown of Regina to join his father in general dental practice until 1986 when he decided to pursue advance study in endodontics.

He received his certificate in graduate endodontics from the Oregan Health and Sciences University under the mentorship of Dr. F. James Marshall.  Upon graduation in 1988, Dr. Schwann established his endodontic specialty practice in Calgary, Alberta where he, his wife Dr. Sandra Schwann (pediatric dentistry) and four very active children make their home.

Dr. Schwann has been an enthusiastic member of the Canadian Academy of Endodontics since his graduation and has recently served as the president of the CAE. He is also a member of the Alberta Society of Endodontists and the American Association of Endodontists. Dr. Schwann enjoys hitting the links, skiing, soccer  and travel with his family.

Dr. Sukhman Chahal, DMD, FRCD(C)

Sukhman Chahal is a Canadian board certified endodontist. Dr. Chahal was born and raised Calgarian and has called Calgary home for the majority of his life.

Dr. Chahal completed his dental education at Tufts University in 2008, a GPR at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio ( UTHSCSA) in 2009, and his endodontic training at the University of Southern California in 2015.

Prior to pursuing the endodontic specialty, Dr. Chahal was a general dentist for three years in Airdrie, AB. His experience as a general dentist has allowed him as a specialist to understand and value the relationship between the referring doctor and endodontist.

Patient satisfaction is one of Dr. Chahal’s priorities. As we all know endodontic emergencies are common place and usually happen at inconvenient times. Dr. Chahal is more than happy to work with patients in terms of flexible scheduling and treating them short notice. He strives for safe, reliable treatment, and make every effort to have patients as comfortable as possible during endodontic procedures.

Dr. Chahal is always available to talk and collaborate with you regarding complex patients and treatment plans. Once the endodontic treatment is completed, a report regarding the patient’s therapy will be sent in a timely manner, and the patient will be referred back to your office for restorative treatment.

In his spare time, him and his wife enjoy exploring the amazing outdoors Southern Alberta has to offer, catching the latest movie, and trying new and interesting cuisine.

“I look forward to meeting with you soon, and be a partner in the care of your patient’s endodontic needs”.
